Celery in the Hoodie!
Nov 20, 2024Paul Bishop recently joined the Top Floor Podcast for an Unfiltered Conversation with Susan Barry.
From taking a bold leap of faith to move to Dubai (what started as a one-year plan has turned into nearly three decades!) to collaborating with global icons like Massimo Bottura, Paul shared the stories, challenges, and passion that have shaped Bishop Design.
The conversation also delved into what truly drives exceptional design today—where culture, creativity, and commerce converge to create spaces that leave a lasting impact. And for those who know Paul, you won’t be surprised to hear that he didn’t hold back, even sharing the now-infamous story involving celery, a hoodie, and a Bloody Mary gone wrong—it’s just as unforgettable as it sounds!
Here’s a snippet from the transcript:
[00:19:25] Susan Barry: Oh, no, sir. Absolutely not.
[00:19:27] Paul Bishop: It was such a rush. It was unbelievable. But yeah, I can imagine trying to do that and eating. Look, someone's going to do it at some point, so let’s see, watch this space.
Later on...
[00:32:15] Susan Barry: They’re like anesthesia?
[00:32:17] Paul Bishop: I know! They’re complete. So I was like, in my infinite wisdom, I'm like, “Oh yeah, I'll take one of them. Why not?”
...
[00:32:17] Paul Bishop: And then I'm like, my God, what the hell happened? And I'm looking at my hoodie and I pulled out a bit of celery.
[00:33:16] Susan Barry: No!
