A New Chapter in Miami’s Dining Scene
Miami’s dining scene continues to evolve, and MIKA Coral Gables is the latest name redefining what it means to dine in style. The brainchild of restaurateur Alex Pirez, seasoned F&B operator Matt Safchik, and six-time Michelin-starred Chef Michael White, MIKA delivers an elevated gastronomic experience set within a space just as captivating. Designed to embody a seamless blend of Mediterranean warmth and contemporary sophistication, it offers a setting where every detail tells a story.
A Design That Speaks
For MIKA, the design narrative is deeply rooted in the sun-drenched landscapes of the Mediterranean, reimagined through a modern Miami lens.
The space embraces weathered textures, warm lighting, and an earthy palette, evoking the charm of old-world Europe. Terracotta tiles, distressed wood, and chukum-style walls create a rich, layered aesthetic that feels both timeless and fresh. Meanwhile, subtle leather and velvet accents introduce a sense of refined elegance, ensuring that every element speaks to the concept’s depth and authenticity.
Large olive trees, carefully placed throughout, ground the space in nature, while the bar—clad in striking green-veined marble—acts as a bold focal point, drawing guests into the heart of the venue.
Arched motifs, dome profiles, and tall coffered ceilings pay homage to classical architecture, bringing a sense of grandeur and timeless elegance to the expansive 8,195-square-foot venue. These elements not only enhance the visual rhythm of the space but also contribute to an immersive and refined atmosphere.
The main dining area is crowned by custom oversized asymmetrical chandeliers, handcrafted by Dubai-based artist Neel Shukla of FSRG (Four Seasons Ramesh Gallery)—each piece featuring artisanal patterns that cannot be replicated, making them as unique as the space itself.
A Collaboration Rooted in Vision
Our close partnership with Alex Pirez and the Mocca Group team was instrumental in bringing MIKA to life. As visionaries in the hospitality industry, Pirez and his team have a keen eye for curating spaces that offer both world-class dining and immersive experiences.
"Working closely with Alex, we wanted MIKA to have a soul and character—as if it had always existed," says Paul Bishop, Owner and Founder of Bishop Design. "Every element is crafted to draw guests in through texture, tone, and detail—it’s a space that feels both exclusive and welcoming."
From concept to execution, Bishop Design and Mocca Group worked hand in hand to ensure that every detail—from material selections to spatial flow—enhanced the guest journey.
A Space That Connects...
The buzz surrounding MIKA has been undeniable, with major media outlets recognizing it as one of Miami’s most exciting new openings. But beyond the press, it’s the organic way people connect with the space that truly speaks to its success.
During a recent trip to Miami, our Managing Director, Mehmet Aktash, found himself in conversation with a local guest at Carbone Vino’s bar. Unaware of Mehmet’s connection to the venue, the guest shared his excitement about Vino’s opening, calling it a “safe haven” for residents—a much-needed retreat from the tourist-driven buzz of its sister restaurant. He then went on to mention MIKA, highlighting it as another great spot just down the road.
It’s moments like these that remind us why we do what we do—creating spaces that don’t just look beautiful but truly resonate with the people who experience them, becoming an integral part of the communities they serve.
